Queen Mary Legal Advice Centre GDA 7- Games AND cakes!!

For the seventh Global Day of Action Event 2025, the Queen Mary Legal Advice centre will be running a games corner and a joint legal bake sale. The QMLAC Team will work with those that run the Great Legal Bake to raise funds to both plant trees to help the environment and to donate to legal advice centres across the UK that offer legal advice to vulnerable members of the society that wouldn't typically be able to afford it.

The event will take place in the law foyer in the Laws building from 9:00am-5:00pm. The legal bake will consist of the Queen Mary Legal Advice Centre team selling baked goods and half of the proceeds will go towards funding the Great Legal Bake and the other half of the funds will go to helping plant trees to help the environment.

For the Global Day of Action event, we will also be running a games corner. The games corner will consist of a basketball hoop and recycled paper. Students will be asked to read about the environmental laws on a form created by students, and they will be encouraged to think of a new legislative idea that will help the environment. They will write the idea on  recycled paper and then throw the paper into the basketball hoop, if they get the recycled paper into the basketball hoop, then they win a prize. The prize is a plant, which this as well as the recycled paper, are both environmentally friendly. All the recycled paper will then be placed back into a recycling bin which is again helping the environment.

Some students have also worked together to create a virtual animation of a tree and each tree has different QR codes that links to different charities that can help the environment, and different ways that students can be sustainable. Furthermore, students have also created GDA posters, and they have also created 100 fun facts of ways to save the environment. Both the posters and the facts sheet created by students will be presented to members of the public at the gda event, when they're playing the game. Lastly the person who has the best legislative idea, will win a gift-card that the QMLAC has kindly funded.
