17th NOVEMBER 2023

This year marks the 5th anniversary of the Global Day of Action for Climate Justice. So far we have had 50 clinics join us –  from Delhi to California to Melbourne – and we are hoping for many more.

The theme for this year is The Right to a Healthy Climate! We chose this theme partly because the UN has recently been approaching climate change from a rights-based perspective but also because of the groundbreaking case that has been heard in the ECHR brought by a group of teenagers from Portugal against all the members of the EU on this very basis.

EXAMPLES

The GDA is now in its 5th year. In previous years, people have got involved in some creative ways:

  • LITTER PICKS

  • HOLDING TALKS WITH STAFF, STUDENTS AND INDUSTRY EXPERTS

  • EATING VEGAN FOR A DAY

  • WRITING A REPORT

  • DOING RESEARCH AND SHARING IT

  • VOLUNTEERING FOR ENVIRONMENTAL CHARITIES

  • SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGNS

  • SIGNING OUR CLIMATE JUSTICE PLEDGE

What are we doing this year?

This year we have organised a conference, with insightful speakers from a range of backgrounds. We will include a Q&A to encourage thought-provoking discussions between our panel and audience members. The theme of the discussion is healthy rivers and drinking water.

This event is in-person and online to provide all who want to join the opportunity. We hope to see as many people at the event on the 17th of November!
